Meet the Artist: Carlos Torres

My name is Carlos Torres, and Lines of Ruin is not just what I create — it’s what I am when everything else has been stripped away.

This is not art for the sake of beauty. It’s a ritual. A reckoning. A slow excavation of what we bury to survive.

I draw what I cannot say. I write what I cannot forget. Every line is a scar retold. Every poem, a breath that never made it to the surface. My work is built from fragments: memory, silence, identity — the unfinished pieces we carry without names.

I don’t make art to comfort.
I make art because the silence became unbearable.

Lines of Ruin is for those who feel too much and say too little. For the ones who’ve worn masks for so long they’ve forgotten the shape beneath. For those who ache without knowing why — and need something to hold that ache still, if only for a moment.

This is a mirror, if you’re willing to look.
Not to see what you are — but what you’ve hidden from.
What still breathes beneath the ruin.

If something in you stirs when you see my work,
then maybe it’s because the part of you that’s been waiting…
has finally been seen.
